James studied at the Royal College of Art and Imperial College London and gained a Masters degree in Industrial Design Engineering. Whilst at college James spent time working in Japan and won the Goldstar International Design Competition and was shortlisted for the Osaka International Design Competition.
He then went on to work for the furniture designer Jasper Morrison in London and then moved to Paris to work for the architect, artist and engineer Santiago Calatrava on proposals for the Bedford Pedestrian Bridge, Poole Harbour Bridge, Sundsvall Bridge and Milwaukee Arts Museum. James then returned to London and worked for architect and designer Norman Foster where he worked with some of the worlds most prestigious clients.

James then set up getmade design. getmade design specialises in design and visualisation accross the areas of product, furniture, lighting and the arts. Our areas of expertises allow concepts to be realised without losing or diluting the original idea. getmade design is involved in a wide range of projects from the technical design of a solar powered cooker to interactive theatre sets, from initial concept design through to manufacturing liaison.

As well as creating concepts we also enjoy collaboration, and through our wide experience of design, manufacture and lighting we can help other organisations, artists and designers, visualise, detail and make projects become a reality whilst maintaining the purity of the idea.
